June RemARKable Blog Tour

This month’s theme is “Going Places.” I can only imagine the variety of interpretations you’ve seen thus far! 🙂

Normally, I like to do 3 projects for the blog hop, but work got really crazy this week, and I was staying til 6pm every night, so I was only able to get one more done (I already had one done 🙂 at least I was that much ahead already!). Plus, my second one used a lot of Big Shottin’, so I’m going to let that count extra 😉

So, first up, is a pretty literally take on the theme… When my DBF was local and travelling for work, I liked to make him a card and write a little note inside that he was only supposed to read at some point after he arrived at his destination (literally anywhere from NY or FL to Japan, and all in between!). So, I made a card with this idea in mind, using both new products and new-to-me products! I used two of the new In Colors, Tip Top Taupe (anyone else wind up often typo-ing Top Top Taupe first? No? Just me? LOL) and Mint Macaron. I stamped the background with the World Map stamp set and then took some more Tip Top Taupe and sponged around it, giving it a little more aged look. The Mint Macaron suitcase I fussy cut and placed on my circles before stamping “Miss You” using the Crazy About You set (a MUST have in the sentiment arsenal!). Then, I just took a bit of the new dotted lace trim and made a knot.

Next up is a not-so-literal interpretation of the them! When I heard the theme name, “Going Places,” it made me think of the Dr. Seuss book, “Oh, the Places You’ll Go!” So….. Ta Da!! A Seuss-inspired card! 🙂 This would be great for a kid earning an achievement. I stared and stared at the images in a Google image search:

until it hit me– the Circle Card Thinlit Die! I probably should have put Dimensionals between each layer, but…. I didn’t. Oh well… Maybe I’ll go back and do that! I used my trusty Circle Framelits to create my colored circles, and topped it off with a Candy Dot! The inside uses the Balloons framelits, the new Sprinkles on Top stamp set, and some Crushed Curry baker’s twine for the hot air balloon. The sentiment came from the new-to-me Bravo set. I’ve decided that we need more circle punches. I have some “contraband” punches I acquired for a project I did awhile back requiring some “eighths” punches (3/8″, 5/8″ etc) but I didn’t want to use those… but I would like having the “eighths increments” not just the “quarters” 🙂
