RemARKables Tour – Goodbyes are Hard!

Welcome to our May RemARKables Blog Tour! This month, our theme is “Goodbyes are Hard.” You probably hopped here from Anne Matasci‘s page. If you feel you’ve gotten lost, just see the list at the bottom to help you get back on track! Without further ado, here are my creations:

Right now, we Stampin’ Uppers are celebrating the fun we’ve had with some products that are now retiring 😥 It is SO hard to let go, especially for us crafty types who have hoarder tendencies HAHA But, I thought I would share some creations with you that feature items that are retiring. This month, I even opted to stay off Pinterest and let the cards come to me– and they did. Not as brilliant as some of the amazing stuff out there that are my style, but I’m pleased!

First up was the one item that made my jaw drop when I saw it on the list: Happy Hour! This stamp set is so cute and so versatile! I used it to make a “DSP” background for this little Christmas card. I also used the Labels Collection Framelits that we also have to say goodbye to. My sentiment is from the Sassy Salutations stamp set–which is SAFE like an American Idol! PHEW! I had already snapped a picture, and I was still like, “It needs something!” So I frosted my glasses and edged my sentiment with the ever-handy Dazzling Details 🙂 I didn’t intend for this card to be squared (it was landscape in my head), but an error in cutting my card base, and VOILA! a square card was born HAHA

happy hourThe Inky Deets:
Stamps: Happy Hour, Sassy Salutations
Paper: Real Red, Whisper White
Ink: Real Red, Wild Wasabi, Stampin’ Write Markers: Real Red and Wild Wasabi (in the Subtles pack)
Accessories & Tools: Labels Collection Framelits (already out of stock!), Dazzling Details, Stampin’ Trimmer, Paper Snips, Snail Adhesive, Glue Dots

Next up is another card I had rattling around in my head, and I’m glad it turned out almost like I envisioned. I say “almost” because I thought I owned the Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border Punch (retiring, too!), but apparently not! LOL Blue is not normally a color most people think of with flowers, but I just love the Pacific Point flower paper in the Painted Blooms DSP pack (will be sorely missed at the end of the Occasions catalog!) This card is great because it could be a sympathy card, a birthday card, or just a “Just Cuz” card!

mixed bunchThe Inky Deets:
Stamps: Mixed Bunch (out of stock), Butterfly Basics
Paper: Pacific Point, Painted Blooms DSPWhisper White
Ink: Pacific Point
Accessories & Tools: Blossom punch (out of stock), Scallop Edge Border Punch (out of stock), Vintage Faceted Buttons, Hello Honey Thick Baker’s Twine (Sale-a-Bration), Stampin’ Trimmer, Snail Adhesive, Glue Dots

Last, but not least, is the card featuring the stamp set I’m probably saddest about. By the Seashore… By the Tide is staying! But I just love the seashells in this one. I have a feeling I won’t be parting with this one for a very long time, even though I got the MDS download, too! I actually am cheating on this one; I made this card awhile back to send to my long-distance boyfriend for our first dating anniversary (our first date was an impromptu day-trip to VA Beach!). I just didn’t think I could top myself by trying another card with it! LOL I used my sponge daubers to sponge my sunny sky, water, and sand. I embossed the seashells (I think I used some already-retired Pewter for all but the starfish; but you could totally stamp in whatever color you want and use Clear! I didn’t have any at the time.) I used the 2013-2015 In Colors on this–I don’t know if I can imagine a world without Coastal Cabana!! (But at least with my DBF, I’ll always have some Baked Brown Sugar nearby 😉 HAHA)

Oh! I just remembered! I also used By The Seashore and By the Tide for my dad’s Father’s Day card last year! Check it! 😀
