I apologize that I failed to post last week as promised, but I am still determined to stay on track with a post a week 🙂
Today is Thursday, the ever-popular “Throwback Thursday” in the social media world. Another demonstrator that I follow asked us about our first card we made and that sparked some inspiration… so, take a stroll down Memory Lane with me to where it all began…
[fade to wavy, flashback screen]
I attended my first workshop back in September of 2009 at my friend Danielle’s house. I have always been crafty, but at that time, I wasn’t really doing anything specific, my craftiness just laying dormant.
I’d never heard of Stampin’ Up! I had attended a Close to My Heart party some years before when I lived on Ft. Bliss, and my mother and I had a stamping/embossing phase back when I was in high school, but I knew I wasn’t a scrapbooker, so stamping and paper crafts hadn’t piqued my interest at that point.. But, I went to her house, and… Mind! Blown! I immediately fell in love. I don’t remember exactly what we made, just a couple of cards, and I do remember that we used Teeny Tiny Wishes, a versatile stamp set that is still around!) I remained a customer of Danielle’s for about 9 more months before she was finally like, “Look. I hate to lose my best customer, but you spend so much, you may as well get a discount!” So… I took the plunge. Those amazing products that I fell in love with that day? They’ve only gotten better and better! 😀 (I could wax poetic about Stampin’ Up! products as well as the company as a business, but I’ll spare you….)
Anyway… to the point of my post– my first card ever. I suggest that you make sure your mouth is free of anything lest you spew it out or choke on it in laughter! 🙂
At that workshop (or shortly thereafter), I purchased the stamp set Season of Joy, and ink and cardstock in Bashful Blue, Old Olive, and Ruby Red, thinking I’d hand-make Christmas cards that year. As far as I know, this was before the days of Pinterest, and I definitely did not know about CASEing (or where to find things to CopyAnd Share Everything), so I was relying on my product novice and rusty creativity, so…. After several failed attempts at anything, I did NOT make a ton of beautiful Christmas cards like I’d envisioned. I did about 5 that I hate (but I keep the pics I took to remind me LOL)… But here is the first one:
I really don’t think I’ve made much in the way of Christmas cards since then LOL But to compare, here are a couple of the ornaments I made about 20 of a few years ago 🙂 (The color schemes I used are all from my head, but I follow assembly instructions very well HAHA)
I hope you enjoyed this little stroll down Memory Lane! I hope to actually get some crafting done this weekend to have something new and fresh to share with you next week! 🙂
Until then… stay warm and safe (is cold with icky weather here of late)…
